Job Description Job Description A day in the life You start your
morning translating complex designs into reality—writing and
refining programs for vertical and horizontal CNC mills, including
5-axis machining centers. You sketch out fixturing concepts, lock
in tooling strategies, and produce clear setup sheets, tool lists,
and standard work so the team can repeat success every time. By
mid-day, you’ve inspected a first article, applied GD&T and
blueprint interpretation to validate tolerances, and adjusted
feeds, speeds, and approach motions to optimize cycle time without
sacrificing quality. You’re comfortable shifting from standard
alloys to exotic materials, keeping efficiency and quality on
target. In the afternoon, you sit down with Sales to provide DFM
guidance and accurate cost estimates. You run pre-production
engineering reviews and risk assessments to ensure a smooth launch,
while mentoring machinists on best practices and safety. Before
heading out, you capture lessons learned and plan the next round of
process improvements and tooling enhancements. What you’ll do
Create, set up, and optimize CNC programs for vertical, horizontal,
and 5-axis milling centers. Engineer fixtures and develop machining
methods, including setup instructions, tool lists, and standard
work for repeatable quality. Drive continuous improvement through
method optimization, tooling upgrades, and cycle-time reduction.
Apply Quality Control expertise, blueprint reading, GD&T, and
tolerancing to take parts from concept to finished product
independently. Partner with Sales for technical support, DFM
analysis, and precise cost estimating. Lead pre-production reviews
and risk assessments to enable successful project launches. Machine
standard and exotic materials while meeting quality and efficiency
targets. Train and mentor team members on processes, standard work,
and safety practices. You excel at CNC programming CNC machine
setup and changeover Tools and technologies 3D modeling and CAD:
AutoCAD, SolidWorks CAM: Mastercam
