Vice President of Laboratory OperationsDiagnostic Laboratory OperationsDirect HireVice President, Laboratory OperationsSUMMARY:The Vice President, Laboratory Operations will provide strategic oversight and direction for laboratory operations. Responsible for developing, implementing and refining operational strategies for laboratory services to meet short-term and long-range business objectives. In partnership with the management to continuously improve efficiencies throughout the operational business cycle.Job Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction to the overall laboratory operations department, for example: receiving, accessioning, grossing, slide scanning, distributions, material storage and retrievals and waste management.
• Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all processes both internal and external. Provide timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the company.
• Drive a success-oriented, metric driven, and accountable environment within the company.
• Scale operations to be highly efficient, quality-driven, and compliant with quality management system requirements.
• Oversight of regulatory interactions, including New York State/CLIA/CAP, etc. to ensure overall compliance.
• Work with QA group to assure adherence to internal guidelines.
• Partner with Human Resources to handle staffing of personnel in the laboratory. Effectively maintain quality staffing by interviewing, hiring, developing and training. Responsible for performance management and competencies of non-medical staff.
• Supervise automation, including the design, development, and optimization of work flow throughout the laboratory.
• Collaborate with IT in the specification and development of software systems in support of the laboratory technology platform(s) and provide user requirements to the software design team.
• Plan and manage departmental budgets, including long-term planning and actual performance.
• Align resources (leaders and operators) with capacity to ensure positioning for budgeted growth.
• Foster an environment of quality, service, and operational best practices.
• Partner with finance to facilitate contract negotiations and recommend vendor selections for laboratory processes.
• Other duties as assigned.Experience Required
  • Cross-functional leadership experience working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Outstanding leadership, people development and management skills.
  • Bachelors in relevant field required. Master's Degree or applicable experience preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years of progressive leadership in Laboratory Operations experience.
  • Experience in the development of projects from concept to launch.
  • Proficiency with LIMS systems is required. Knowledge of NetLims a plus.
  • Knowledge of whole slide imaging technology preferable.
  • Commercial laboratory experience required. Anatomic pathology laboratory experience preferred.
  • Experience working with a broad set of laboratory vendors, instruments and workflows preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, manage and achieve short and long-term departmental goals.
  • Ability and willingness to engage in resolving day-to-day issues.
