Department Location Reports to Status Start Date Compensation Senior Director, Market Access Market Access Paramus NJ VP, Commercial Exempt ASAP Competitive Job SummaryResponsible for the market access strategy, budgeting, tactical planning, pricing, and access solutions for a rare orphan disease product to be launched in the US.Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Include but not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Develop the Market Access team strategy, tactics and budget from the strategic business launch plan for NS Pharma' s first product to be launched (viltolarsen), a new treatment for an ultra-orphan pediatric disease
  • Head up Market Access marketing operations for business group and payers
  • Provide critical leadership in launching and leading an overall market access strategy, product positioning, managed care launch, market research, medical advisory board participation, and pricing research as a US expert in payer and pricing/contracting HEOR strategies
  • Oversee personnel in operations, access and affordability, and payer services group, ensuring performance output is meeting Commercial and the Company's target goals and objectives
  • Lead US input into future global (Europe) market access issues including global launch and pricing strategies, input into clinical program design (reimbursement impact)
  • Lead pricing and reimbursement strategy
  • Create and lead the development and execution of value message platform for the new brand
  • Create value proposition strategy and implement communication messaging with managed care customers and direct Access and payer teams (N8) to ensure optimal access of the NS Pharma's orphan product to pediatric patients with a very rare disease
  • While setting up and directing a KAM (key account manager) team, lead and be responsible for the development of the payer communication and contracting strategies.
  • Develop, train and implement the necessary promotional tools, reimbursement / formulary pull-through and quality initiative programs that support account teams efforts with key customers
  • Develop working partnerships and collaborate across Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, Finance, Legal and other functional teams in the development and implementation of novel tools/resources aligned with franchise goals ensuring commercial success
  • Find and manage agencies to deliver tools/tactics/resources to ensure tools/programs meet expectations and delivered on time and within budget
  • Develop innovative approaches to obtain and leverage product usage data to provide deep customer insight into usage patterns for our product and competitorsSupervisory Responsibility
    • Responsible for the performance of the Market Access team members in Operations, Access and Affordability, and Payer Services, including providing direction, guidance and adviceQualifications
      • Full functional knowledge of US Reimbursement landscape for pharmaceutical products, including private and state payer programs, is required
      • Starting up a whole Market Access team in a relatively small organization and launching a new product is strongly preferred
      • Experiences with rare / orphan disease therapeutic area is a strong plus
      • 5+ year of experience with payer management and drug pricing is required from a home office leadership position
      • Market analysis / pricing / budgeting skill is required
      • Must be able to work effectively in a multi-cultural, global team environment as responsibilities include cross-functional collaboration with NS Pharma and Nippon Shinyaku (a parent in Japan) or vendors/contractors
      • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize
      • Strong organizational, communication and presentation skills
      • Team player, flexible, ability to adapt to change, self-starterEducation and/or Experience
        • Bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree in business or related area preferred
        • Minimum of 15+ years of team management in pharmaceutical or biotech experience
