DescriptionDevelop and deliver capital investment strategies that
optimize the long-term performance of water and wastewater systems.
Perform hydraulic evaluations of transmission and distribution
systems, including water main replacement and renewal assessments,
storage needs, and fire flow needs. Evaluate water supply needs and
use engineering economic, data science, and optimization techniques
to recommend alternatives. Use machine-learning and applied
statistics to prepare water demand and hydrological forecasts.
Automate and optimize data and hydraulic modeling workflows for
master planning. Function as the technical liaison with consultants
applying machine-learning and optimization algorithms to
water-related applications. Manage the production of Geographic
Information System (GIS) files and outputs for mapping, engineering
projects, and presentations. Partner with the local operational
staff, corporate engineering, and consultants to develop master
plans.QualificationsThe position requires Master's degree, or
foreign degree equivalent, in Civil Engineering or Environmental
Engineering or a related field and 4 years related academic or work
experience. In the alternative, employer will accept a Doctorate's
degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering or a
related field and 2 years of related academic or work experience.
Any suitable combination of education, training, and/or experience
is acceptable. The position also requires 2 years of experience in
steady-state and transient hydraulic modeling; 2 years of
experience in evolutionary and mathematical programming
optimization applied to water resources systems; 2 years of
experience in selecting, training, and testing machine learning
algorithms; and 2 years of experience in programming in Python.
