Overview
Reporting to the VP, Strategic Technology Services, the National
Manager Application Development (abbreviated Nat'l Mgr, App
Dvlpmnt) is expected to have a high level of knowledge across
multiple disciplines, provide vision, leadership, and expertise to
the Application Development function.
The National Manager of Application Development is expected to have
a comprehensive awareness of custom and COTS application software,
understanding our customers business problems they are designed to
solve and how we can use those technologies to help our clients
solve their problems. Ultimately, a top-notch application manager
should have excellent technical skills, attention to detail, strong
business acumen and the ability to adhere to deadlines to guarantee
Customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
* 10+ years of relevant experience in a progression of roles
* Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science,
Information Systems, Information Technology, or equivalent job
experience
* Strong written and verbal communication, including technical
writing skills
* Experience working at an enterprise scale and dealing with large
scale problems
* Strong business acumen and a drive toward business growth
* Discipline to work remotely and communicate clearly
* Familiarity with the challenges involved in delivering Managed IT
products of all sizes
* Relevant certifications to their areas of expertise
Qualifications
The National Manager Application Development is responsible
for:
* Manage the day to day operational, people and strategic
components of the Application Development function.
* Oversee the analysis of our customer business operations and
determine which software applications meet their need
* Evangelize the application development function internally within
the business to ensure the function can grow
* Drive sales and marketing campaigns alongside key
stakeholders
* Build, maintain and grow strong relationships with new and
existing customers
* Leading the app dev in the implementation and upgrading of
customer applications
* Monitoring and managing the roll-out of new customer software
applications to ensure issues and risks are effectively managed and
communicated
* Troubleshooting and resolving any problems with customer
applications.
* Evaluating strategic solutions to add/remove from the
portfolio.
* Training employees on the use of any new software applications
and maintaining a good work atmosphere.
* Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the latest software
developments. The role is critical to support core business
functions and services. Continuous improvement and a passion for
problem solving with a comprehensive approach are key qualities for
the role.

* Oversee the day-to-day operations of the app dev team, ensuring
forward progress on monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals/rocks
* Ensures that team activities align with business objectives
* Anticipates future requirements of the business, and craft
technology standards to stay ahead of the business
* Upholds a strong ethic for systems management that leverages a
holistic approach that considers the impact to the entire
organization
* Oversees teams that develops policies, procedures, and standards
in their area of expertise
* Champions a spirit around innovation, continuous improvement, and
quality
* Drives toward solutions that support automation and
self-service
* Accounting & P&L oversight

* Build, maintain and grow customer relationships
* Work with business stakeholders to evangelize our solutions and
services
* Good project and program management skills to ensure deliverables
are met on time, in full
* Be the point of escalation for all customer queries
Managing and developing people
* Ensures team operational success

* Managing individual performance
* Manage 3rd party contractors
