served.Position SummaryThe Laboratory Assistant assists laboratory
personnel in daily accessioning. Performs pre-analytical processing
of specimens and a variety of clerical duties in support of the
department.ScheduleMonday - Friday 12pm to 8pm (Saturdays and
Holidays as needed)Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe duties include,
but are not limited to:Receives, sorts, and performs accurate data
entry for all specimens entering the laboratoryReceives and
processes written/electronic requests from group physicians for
routine or STAT laboratory testsFollows appropriate handling
requirements for patient specimensIdentifies and documents
situations that may adversely impact test performance or reporting
of results and notifies management of situationPerforms a variety
of clerical duties in support of departmentAnswers, screens, and
directs phone calls receive in LaboratoryProcesses and files form
requests, records, and related laboratory paperworkPerforms
miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.Qualifications or
Education, Training and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent
requiredPrevious experience in a Laboratory preferredKnowledge and
Skills/Expected CompetenciesMedical terminology and computer
application preferredAbility to handle simultaneous requests and
telephone callsKnowledge of laboratory procedures
helpfulPhysical/Mental Demands and Work EnvironmentThe physical

close vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee may need to
