Job Description:
Vassar Brothers Medical Center , located in Poughkeepsie, New
York, just 75 minutes north of New York City, is seeking an
academically-oriented Hematologist (both classical and malignant
hematology). This position will focus on treating patients with
hematologic malignancies but will also oversee evaluation of
treatment of patients with classical hematology conditions, with
advanced practitioner support. Our Cancer Institute is growing
rapidly as we are expanding our clinical trial portfolio and
positioning ourselves to be a destination cancer program in this
region. The ideal candidate will be board certified/eligible in
hematology and have post-fellowship experience and/or hematology
focused training. $50,000 Sign on bonus/retention package plus
relocation allowance is available for full time candidates. Vassar
Brothers Medical Center provides our hospital systems and
multi-specialty practice with tertiary oncology services and is
accredited by The American College of Surgeons as a Comprehensive
Community Cancer Program. Vassar has many of the key elements of a
comprehensive oncology service line in place, including
state-of-the-art radiation oncology and Surgical specialty services
in Breast, Thoracic, Gastrointestinal, Gynecologic, Genitourinary
Oncology and Hepatobiliary Surgery. Nurse navigation, Genetic
counseling and screening are available onsite. There is ample
opportunity to pursue research and clinical trials. At the Nuvance
Health Cancer Institute, our multidisciplinary Tumor Boards bring
together a diverse team of specialists to collaboratively analyze
complex patient cases to develop personalized, evidence-based
treatment plans. Our robust clinical trials program provides
patients early access to innovative therapies. This is further
bolstered by the Rudy L. Ruggles Biomedical Research Institute,
which conducts translational cancer research, bringing
breakthroughs from the lab directly to the bedside to improve
patient care and advance community health. Located on the banks of
the scenic Hudson River, Vassar Brothers Medical Center has a new
752,000 square-foot, eight-level inpatient pavilion with 263
private medical/surgical patient rooms and 30 critical care rooms.
Vassar provides the leading acute and critical emergency care in
the region, including Level II Trauma Service and Interventional
Neuroradiology. Vassar has established centers of excellence in
cardiac services, neurosciences, cancer care, and women’s health.
