Position Title: Exam Development Unit, Emerging Talent Intern
(Summer) Hourly Rate: $21.00 (Graduate) All internship positions
are onsite and require regular, in-person attendance at the
designated work location. OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT: The personnel
testing, selection and classification unit is responsible for
conducting research, developing and administering pre-employment
test and assessments for various civil service and non-civil
service positions. The unit is also charged with making
determinations regarding eligibility of candidates for employment
by evaluating their education and experience and determining if
they meet the minimum qualification requirements for employment.
The intern will be responsible for reviewing resumes and serving on
interview panels with HR staff and subject matter experts for
various operating positions. They will learn elements of the field
of Test and Measurement, including how to write and edit test
questions, conduct job analyses, conduct research, write reports,
analyze data and assist in the administration of examinations and
assessments. They will likely be involved in the adoption of
computer-based testing and other related unit projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Conducting provisional hiring interviews 2.
Reviewing test questions 3. Working with subject matter expert
panels for test review 4. Helping with inputting questions into the
computerized testing program 5. Helping test the computerized
testing program 6. Reviewing resumes to determine if candidates are
qualified for positions 7. Helping with job analyses 8. Helping
with notices of examination PROJECTS: Computerized Testing Program:
The intern will assist in developing an item bank for the new
computerized testing program. This will include, creating items,
reviewing items, uploading items into the bank and sourcing items.
Notice Database: The intern will assist in organizing and updating
the notice database used by examiners to create future examination
announcements. They will be tasks with ensuring all newly approved
notices are stored in the database for easy retrieval. Provisional
Hiring: The intern will support examiners and subject matter
experts throughout the hiring process. They will be tasked with
reviewing resumes, creating structured interviews/assessments,
evaluating education and experience test papers, and participating
in interviews. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Proficiency in Microsoft
Office Suite is a must. The candidate should possess
organizational, analytical and communication skills. The candidate
should be able to analyze data and provide the best course of
action to leadership. The candidate should be able to work well
under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively. The candidate
should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently
while being an active team player. REQUIRED EDUCATION: Matriculated
in a graduate program in good standing with at least 2.8 GPA
Major(s) Preferred: Industrial Organizational Psychology, or
