Development and Special Events Assistant
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour (Based on experience and education)
40 Hours per week; non-exempt position. (Customarily Monday
through Friday, 8:30AM to 4:30PM; Flexibility required scheduled
based on business needs)
LOCATION: Hybrid position (combination of on-site and remote);
Local travel is required
SUMMARY OF JOB: The Development and Special Events Assistant is
an integral member of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Patersons
Development Team. This position will report to the Development
Director and will work collaboratively with the CEO of Catholic
Charities and the Executive Directors from Catholic Charities 3
The Development and Special Events Assistant serves as the
backbone of the operation by overseeing all administrative
processes in place to manage the organizations fund holder
relationships. The Development and Special Events Assistant
coordinates special events, assist with soliciting donors on a
individual and corporate scale, and assists with donor cultivation.
Establishes or maintains cooperative relationships with
representatives of community, employee, or public interest groups.
Plans or direct development or communication of informational
programs to maintain favorable public or stockholder perceptions of
our organization's accomplishments or agenda.

- Associates Degree (Bachelor Preferred)
- A minimum of 1-3 years experience in a related field,
preferably marketing, communications, nonprofit management or event
planning/coordination. Prior nonprofit work experience a plus.
- Demonstrate a commitment to helping the vulnerable and those in
need. Relates to the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, namely
the care for all of Gods creation.
- Possess excellent communication and organizational skills;
demonstrates leadership in developing strategies and implementing
initiatives that are conducive to the overall success of Catholic
- Proven record of delivering results and meeting goals.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain strong relationships
with donors and prospective donors.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively in writing to a
variety of audiences. Skill in preparing proposals and reports.
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language
including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition,
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with graphic design
programs such as Publisher and Photoshop a plus. Technical
knowledge of digital fundraising programs including Grant Hub and
Blackbaud a plus. Willingness to learn specialized software.
