  • Senior Data Architect is responsible for defining and implementing enterprise data architecture that aligns related business architecture with enterprise strategy. The individual will work closely with other members of the Enterprise Data Management (EDM) & Data and Analytics (DnA) Teams as well as cross-functional team to develop and implement data architecture solutions that are accessible, useful, and secure. -Some travel may be requiredPrimary Duties / Responsibilities -
    • Responsible for data architecture design, data modeling approaches, design standards, development tools, and life cycle practices for enterprise data warehouse
    • Responsible for mentoring and providing technical leadership and direction to data architects and members of the EDM team in data architecture design, data modeling approaches, design standards, development tools, and life cycle practices for enterprise data warehouse
    • Create or improve existing data pipelines in cloud for data transformation and aggregation, data analytics, visualization and data science use cases
    • Drive data integration efforts to increase value of operational technology investments including AMI, Water Quality, Customer Experience, SCADA, GIS, Asset Management, Work Management, IIoT, etc.
    • Address technical inquiries around enterprise architecture and general features / functionality of Snowflake data lake platform
    • Assist data analyst with design and implementation of standards and best practices for data modeling including metadata, master data, and data quality -
    • Design, construct, install, test and maintain highly scalable data pipelines with state-of-the-art monitoring and Data Quality practices.
    • Analyze functional needs and understand cross system reporting requirements that drive the analysis and technical design of quality technical solutions for enterprise wide projects -
    • Help in building high-performance algorithms, prototypes, predictive models and proof of concepts
    • Recommend solutions and advise on hardware/infrastructure and software needed that are aligned with Business and IT strategies and comply with Veolia standards and processes -
    • Responsible for EDM database design including schemas, automation of data quality rules, logical model designs, naming conventions, optimized queries, and indexes -
    • Work independently and with the data SMEs to learn the source system data -
    • Develop a data security model that aligns with the source system applications -
    • Work with DBAs on physical table creation, partitioning and indexing -
    • Perform requirements analysis with the ability to write functional specifications and data flow diagrams
    • Lead large-scale enterprise data acquisition and data management projects and support / troubleshoot data issues -
    • Bring together large, complex and sparse data sets to meet functional and non-functional business requirements.
    • Support enterprise report developers in determining the most efficient way to pull necessary data
    • Design and implement data tools for analytics and data scientist team members to help them in building, optimizing and tuning our product -
    • Assist developers and data analyst with data test planningQualificationsEducation / Experience / Background
      • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related field. -
      • 7+ years of database design & implementation; including significant Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, AWS S3 and AWS Redshift -
      • 5+ years' experience with Data Warehouses (star schemas, snowflake design, OLAP cubes, etc)
      • True, \'Hands- On\' history of architecting, designing, and building enterprise-class relational and dimensional data models for large data lakes/data reservoirs
      • Skilled in Data Modeling (Dimensional, Normalized, Key-value pair), Information Architecture, Analytics, Schema Evolution, Data Organization Layouts
      • Advanced knowledge of SQL and related programming languages (PL/SQL, T-SQL, Python)
      • Familiar with technologies including Snowflake, BladeBridge, ETL/ELT tools, Fivetran, Mulesoft, SCADA, Oracle/SQL Server, AWS, ESRI GIS, INFOR EAM, KloudGin
      • Develop source, target, and output mapping technical documents as required for data lineage and transformation and integration
      • Familiarity with data structures (i.e. 3NF, 2NF, OLAP, OLTP, Star & Snowflake)
      • Ability to design slowly changing dimension
      • Familiar with creating solution strategies for dealing with Unknown, Not Applicable, Non conforming attribute values.
      • Design knowledge of surrogate key management real time data processing
      • Experience in leading a team of data analysts and architects
      • Experience working with cloud-based solutions within AWS and GCP
      • Experience with large system data integrations (SAP, ADP, etc)
      • Experience with writing complex data queries with strong SQL skills with an understanding of other query or coding languages such as python are absolutely necessaryKnowledge / Skills / Abilities
        • Strong communication, leadership and teamwork skills
        • Ability to work well within a team, in-person or virtually
        • Ability to fully document the data architecture
        • Ability to work with teams across IS&T and VNA to understand their overarching needs and provide data driven results
        • Proven capacity to design and implement a full lifecycle data architecture solution
        • Proficiency with multiple ETL tools and data storage environments with the ability to design extract methodologies -
        • Ability to define a backup, archiving, and disaster recovery strategy
        • Proven aptitude for troubleshooting issues across multiple departments and vendors and analyze large data sets
        • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced flexible environmentRequired Certification / Licenses / Training
          • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional or Associate) and Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect preferred
