This is for an Orthopedic practice
Practice Type: Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Basic Function
Utilizes computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce cross section images of patients internal organs and tissues for diagnosis of medical issues by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

1.`Performs various CT scans from brain, neck, chest, pelvis and extremities for evaluation of all etiology.



2.Prepares and operates the CT scan equipment.

3.Interprets a physicians scanning instructions defined on the request.

4.Administers contrast materials as directed by referring physician and-or radiologist.

5.Performs pre-treatment assessment to determine any patient allergies and explains the procedures being performed.

6.Prepares and positions patient in assuming the required anatomical positions for capturing the appropriate image.

7.Prepares the proper amount of opaque for various examinations.

8.Monitors the conditions and reactions of patients post contrast application and reports any adverse reactions to the radiologist and nurse.

9.Records, processes and maintains patient treatment and data records.

10.Observes radiation safety procedures to safeguard against overexposure of patient and personnel to CT radiation.

11.Monitors patient flow and patient comfort while they are in the CT laboratory.

12.Maintains quality assurance on a daily basis.

13.Ensures preventative maintenance and repair records are completed and documented as required.

14.Arranges diagnostic tests with other physicians or radiologists as requested.

15.Responds to patient concerns in a timely and professional manner.

16.Completes daily and monthly quality assurance reports.

17.Performs routine preventative maintenance on equipment and schedules repairs with service technicians when needed.

18.Attends all required staff meetings, training seminars and other designated meetings.

19.Answers telephone and assists in scheduling patients in the office.

20.Develops and processes films and disks as needed.
