Job Description:
Job Details:The System Director of Facilities is responsible for
the oversight of Engineering, Maintenance, Construction and
Facilities teams for the Bon Secours Charity Health System on all
of its property, owned or rented. This position assures the daily
operations of the engineering, maintenance and repair functions for
buildings, equipment and building systems. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops and oversees the implementation of the policies and
procedures for each department, ensuring compliance with internal
and external regulations. Implements processes to meet TJC, CMS &
DOH, fire, utilities and hazardous materials safety standards;
maintains documentation and fulfills testing requirements.
Coordinates required environmental and other permitting reports.
Directs the implementation and evaluation of maintenance management
programs for buildings, equipment, utilities and the grounds.
Develops and implements an energy management program to promote
energy conservation and maximize utility rebates. Negotiates,
establishes, implements and maintains vendor contracts for
equipment utilization and repair; contracts with external agencies
for independent contractors. Conducts needs analyses and makes
recommendations for equipment repairs, replacements, upgrades, or
capacity additions. Organizes the relocation of other departments
and services within the Hospital's facilities. Collaborates with
department heads for individual department facility needs and
resolution of issues related to the engineering and maintenance
services. Authorizes purchases and the use of supplies and
equipment in conformity with established contracts. Teaches,
mentors, trains and develops staff in areas of responsibility.
Conducts trend analyses and prepares reports for utilization, costs
efficiencies and regulatory compliance. Oversees development of
contingency plans to address emergency situations. Prepares
department's operating and capital budget in conjunction with
senior leadership. Effectively communicates policies and procedures
related to the assigned areas of responsibility; advises and
coordinates with leadership, hospital staff and other department
heads as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS: Five to eight years of progressive
experience in facilities management, including three years in a
supervisory role in a hospital/healthcare facility demonstrating
current concepts as it relates to the position. Knowledge of
regulatory compliance with TJC, CMS, DOH, fire, utilities and
hazardous materials safety standards. Knowledge of: HVAC and
refrigeration systems and equipment, steam and hot water generation
systems, medical gas and vacuum systems, emergency power supply
systems, fire protection systems, water and sanitation systems,
safety and security systems, and building envelope
systems.Education:Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related
field.Other:If applicable, the individual performing this job may
reasonably anticipate coming into contact with human blood and
other potentially infectious materials. Individuals in this
position are required to exercise universal precautions, use
personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies
