Job Summary The Retail Store Associate plays a key role in creating a welcoming and knowledgeable in-store experience for customers. This position is responsible for delivering outstanding customer service, maintaining store presentation and inventory standards, supporting events and promotions, and ensuring operational excellence under the guidance of the Retail Store Manager. Associates are the face of Famous Smoke Shop, providing knowledgeable product recommendations, assisting customers with purchases, and contributing to the retail store's overall success. Work Location This position is on-site at our Easton, PA headquarters. Regular availability on weekends, evenings, and holidays is required to support store operations and special events. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Customer Experience & Sales Greet customers warmly, engage in friendly conversation, and provide expert guidance on cigar products, accessories, and promotions. Assist customers in selecting products that suit their preferences and budgets, ensuring a premium, personalized experience. Operate the POS system efficiently, process transactions accurately, and follow all cash-handling procedures. Promote store events, loyalty programs, and special offers to drive sales and deepen customer engagement. Provide product education, including cigar storage, cutting, lighting, and pairings. Store Operations & Presentations Maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing sales floors, displays, and entryways at all times. Restock shelves and product displays, ensuring proper rotation and accurate labeling. Support daily opening and closing procedures, including cash reconciliation and cleaning tasks, and security checks. Uphold store appearance standards across all interior and exterior spaces, including patios, ashtrays, and trash receptacles. Follow company policies and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant environment. Inventory & Merchandising Receive, check, and stock incoming inventory accurately, reporting discrepancies to management. Assist with regular inventory counts and help minimize shrink through attention to detail and adherence to security protocols. Ensure displays are fully stocked and aligned with promotional and seasonal merchandising strategies. Event & Promotion Support Assist in preparing for and executing retail store events, vendor showcases, and seasonal promotions. Coordinate signage, product placement, and customer engagement activities during events. Provide enthusiastic support to create memorable in-store experiences that build customer loyalty. Teamwork & Culture Work collaboratively with the Retail Store Manager and fellow associates to ensure smooth daily operations and excellent service coverage. Participate in ongoing product and service training to stay knowledgeable and aligned with store goals. Demonstrate Famous Smoke Shops values through professionalism, reliability, and a customer-first attitude. Additional Duties Employees may be required to perform additional duties, including supporting other departments or special projects, as needed to meet business and operational needs. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework preferred Minimum 1-2 years of experience in retail, hospitality, or a customer service environment. Cigar product knowledge is a plus but not required; training will be provided. Experience with POS systems and cash-handling preferred. Skills and Qualifications Passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly. Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable learning about cigar products, accessories, and storage methods. Reliable, punctual, and a collaborative team player. Must be at least 21 years old to comply with tobacco sales regulations. Physical Requirements This is an on-site role in a smoking environment, requiring extended periods of standing and walking. Frequent bending, reaching, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. are required. Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed. Job Type: Full-Time/Part-Time Schedule: Availability is required on weekends, with two days off and working hours between 10 AM and 7 PM. Work Environment: This position requires working in an environment where cigar smoking is permitted.
