Outside Sales Representative - Chemicals for Cosmetics & Personal Care

Job DescriptionDescription: Independent Chemical Corporation, listed as one of the Top 100 Chemical Distributors in North America, is looking to expand its Sales Team due to growth. This position is NOT about selling cosmetics or personal care products to end users. Instead, you will be selling the raw materials and ingredients that go into those products for manufacturers in the Cosmetics and Personal Care Industry throughout the New York tri-state region and New England. The position is based out of your home office and requires daily local travel 2-3 weeks per month for customer visits and relationship-building. You will call on some current accounts but be paid primarily for generating new business. You will be charged with finding new accounts, determining products to offer and price, developing new product offerings to meet customers' needs, and managing the pricing and relationship while our office handles the logistics. When you're not traveling, you will be submitting weekly activity reports, which will highlight sales success, accounts, and efforts in progress towards sales. Monthly visits to our Glendale, NY or Paterson, NJ office are required for training and meetings to discuss sales plans, progress, and strategies. ResponsibilitiesDevelops, maintains, and communicates sales planPresents and sells company products and services to new and existing customersNegotiates price with customers to reach a win-win saleProspects and contacts potential customersAttends trade shows to promote products and interact with potential customersBuilds and maintains positive relationships with clientsReaches agreed upon sales targets by the deadlineDemonstrates goal-oriented business-to-business sales performance and successLearns new and varied chemical product lines and their applications in the Nutrition and/or Healthcare industriesResolves customer inquiries and complaintsSets follow-up appointments to keep customers aware of latest developmentsCreates sales material to present to customersSubmits weekly activity reports, travel expenses, etc. on time Experience & Requirements Minimum 5 years required in outside business-to-business sales of chemicals, ingredients, additives or other raw materials preferably within the Cosmetics & Personal Care industries Minimum Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, cosmetics science, engineering or similar technical backgroundDemonstrates goal-oriented business-to-business sales performance and successShows strong grasp of chemistry, especially how customers use chemicals, ingredients, and additives, and how our products can offset competitive productsExhibits superior sales negotiation skills and high EQPossesses effective communication skills to develop and maintain relationships with customers, peers, and managementHighly organized self-starter and detail-oriented problem-solverPunctual, responsible, professional, personable, and dedicatedPersuasive, adaptable, resilient, likable, motivated, and goal-drivenWelcomes added responsibility while being accountable and dependableDriven to work and grow with the company according to demonstrated ability and performanceThinks quickly and precisely in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentRelates to people at all levelsShows commitment to integrity in business practices.Excellent internet and computer skills, including MS OfficeMust live in the specified territoryMust have right to work in the USA, a driver's license, clean driving record, and a car PerksCompetitive weekly base salarySales performance payWork from home and time flexibilityMonthly car allowance including EZ-PassCell PhoneHealth planPaid time off and holidaysSimple IRA with company match after a year Qualified candidates will be expected to develop a presentation after completing a technical assignment as part of the screening process and complete an online test!
