Job Description Job Description Job Title: Pathologist Assistant / Pathology Technician Location - New York, NY Profession: Laboratory Specialty: Pathologist Assistant / Pathology Technician Department: Surgical Pathology Assignment Type: Contract Shift: Day – 5 × 8-hour shifts Job Summary The Pathologist Assistant supports the Surgical Pathology department by performing gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens under the supervision of a pathologist. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate specimen processing, documentation, and adherence to laboratory quality and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Perform gross examination, dissection, and description of surgical pathology specimens Prepare and submit tissue sections for histologic processing Assist pathologists with surgical pathology procedures as required Ensure accurate specimen identification, labeling, and documentation Maintain compliance with laboratory safety, infection control, and regulatory standards Collaborate with pathologists, laboratory personnel, and clinical teams to support diagnostic workflows Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper functioning of grossing areas and laboratory equipment Follow institutional policies, quality assurance standards, and professional standards of practice Required Qualifications Licensure: Active New York State licensure as a Pathologist Assistant Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher from a Pathologists’ Assistant program OR Equivalent program as determined by the New York State Education Department OR Bachelor’s degree or higher from a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program Experience: 0–3 years of related experience in Pathology (required) Preferred Qualifications Fellow of the American Association of Pathologists Assistants (AAPA) ASCP certification For more details reach at sthakur@navitashealth.com or Call / Text at 732 791 4807 - EXT 4807 .
